Existing Track Inspiration

I have formed a list of music videos that I could possibly use for my NEA Coursework
music video task, these all fit with the Dance genre and would also be sutiable for the
 16-24 year old target audience.

Shakira- Waka Waka
This is currently my most preferred music video that I am hoping to use the track for within my own music video. I personally believe the increasing melody and contrasting pitch make it an enjoyable and dance-worthy music video overall.

Shakira- Try Everything
Although this music video is based upon a movie, I personally enjoy the live feel and the constant increase in pitch and tone- it allows us an audience to catch the rythm and enjoy the track overall.

Avicci- Wake Me Up

Coldplay- Something Just Like This

Niall Horan- On the Loose

Anne Marie- Friends

Grace VanderWall- Moonlight

Imagine Dragons- On Top of the World

Ella Eyre- Came Here for Love

Colplay- Up and Up

Naughty Boy- One Chance to Dance

Preliminary Photography Task

Learning Points:

After completing the Preliminary photography task, I have learnt the different modes that I can put the Canon 700D in and how this will effect the overall quality and finish of the image itself. I have learnt how I can use different F/Modes in order to adapt the brightness of an image and also how shutter speed effects this also. Overall, the preliminary photography task has made me a lot more confident with using a Canon 700D camera, similar to the one I shall use for my Music Video NEA production.

Final Preliminary Evaluation

Preliminary Music Video Task

LEARNING POINTS:
On 15th March 2018, my A-Level Media class were allocated the task of creating a preliminary music video in order to gain experience with Directing, Producing and Starring in a music video itself. Firstly, we allocated roles and decided who would bring in what items of costume. We then allocacted sections of the music video itself so that we could evaluate a shot by shot breakdown of the content we needed to reproduce- our chosen song was 'What Time Is It?' from the famous musical High School Musical and this is what I produced above.

Dance Genre Research

 LEARNING POINTS:
From completing this research into the Dance genre, I must convey the conventions that I stated within the presentation, the key conventions being: Fast paced editing, vibrant and colourful clothing and set and high angle establishing shots in order to provide the dance environment. I intend on using these throghout my music video production as well as ensuring that I abide by the generic conventions also.

LEARNING POINTS:
  • Ensure that my music video and website are connected and that this connection is clear throughout. Remember, there are ten marks for providing a sense of synegy
  • Use similar colour schemes in my video and website, this will make it seem more continuous
  • Although I am not making a digipak, use the same images on the website as you would on the digipak.
